A rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. today at St. Peter Catholic Church for Adela Fierro Torrez, 76, who passed away May 15, 2000, at her home. A mass is scheduled for 1 P.M. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church. The Rev. Larry Schreiber will officiate, assisted by Deacon Jesus Herrera. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Adela was born July 15,1924, in Roswell to Benito Fierro and Carolina Gomez Fierro. Nov. 9, 1939, Adela married Hilario Chavez Torrez in Roswell. He preceded her in death as did both parents.
Adela was a lifetime resident of Roswell and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, wife and homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Maria Luisa Torrez of Cupertino, Calif., Esperanza Melendez and her husband Tony Jr., of Las Cruces, Rosa Lina Haun and her husband Jim, of Sacramento, Calif., and Rebeca Hernandez of Roswell; two brothers, Frank Gomez of Roswell and Socorro "Joe" Torrez of Hobbs; one sister Maria Viola Rodriquez; soul sister, Lucy cobos Wyatt; eight grandchildren, Hilario Melendez, Ramona Melendez Hyde, Antonio Melendez,III, Jimmy Huan, Jason Huan, Paul A. Hernandez, Albert Hernandez Jr., Joshua Hernandez; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hilario Melendez, Ramona Melendez Hyde, Antonio Melendez, Jason Gaun, Paul A. Hernandez, Albert Hernandez and Joshua Hernandez.
