Pinkney Henderson Bell was born at the Bell homestead near Center. He married Amanda Tam on January 9, 1876, and they had 13 children.

In the 1880 census P. H. Bell, 29, and wife Amanda, 20, have 2 children: Emma, 3, and son V. B., 4 months. Listed in the 1900 census with Henderson Bell, 48, and wife Amanda, 40, are children Gennie, 18; Nora, 16; Elzie, 12; Martin, 10; Marion, 10; Izzibell, 5; and Columbus, 4; and son-in-law Ben Lout, 22. The 1910 census lists Henderson P. Bell, 58; wife Amanda, 50; daughters Emmile, 28, and Isabelle, 15; and sons Marion, 18, and Columbus, 14.

Survivors included his wife; 1 brother: Polk Bell; 1 sister: Mrs. Margaret Rhames; 3 sons: Martin, Marion, and Columbus; 4 daughters: Eunice Lout, Nora Goodwin, Elsie Grubbs, and Isabelle Schillings; 27 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
