Professional Baseball Player. He was a Nippon Professional Baseball outfielder that made his debut in 1970. During his 22-year career, he played for the Nankai Hawks (1970 to 1988), the Orix Braves (1989 to 1990), and the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks (1991 to 1992). As a professional, he posted a batting average of .289 made 567 home runs, and batted in 1678 runs. In the 1981 season, he won the Comeback Player of the Year Award. He made his final appearance in 1992 with the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks. His biggest honor was being inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. After retiring from the field he remained active in the league by becoming an announcer. He passed away at his home at the age of 74.
