He entered the Spanish Cinema as a scriptwriter before become an assistant director to Nathan Juran ("The 7th Voyage of Sinbad," 1958) and Jack Sher ("The 3 Worlds of Gulliver," 1960). Among his notable directing efforts include "Bad Man's River" (1971, which starred Lee Van Cleef), "Horror Express" (1972, which starred Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee) and "Pancho Villa" (1972, which starred Telly Savalas.
