Born Dec. 12, 1921, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Leonard and Ruth (Watson) McPike.
He was a retired electrician, a carpenter and a carpet store owner. He was a co-founder of Bounds & McPike Carpet Store in 1968. He was a member of Lake Monroe Church of Christ, loved farming and woodworking and was the world's best fixer-upper.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Marnise Miller and her husband, Dennis, of Bloomington, Teresa Bounds and her husband, Don, of Bloomington, and Khiva Kniffen; eight grandchildren, Dana Nethery and her husband, Matt, Brad Bounds, Marlie Frye and her husband, Rick, and Mindy Bounds, all of Bloomington, and Regina Trayler, Kelsie Bounds and his wife, Marilyn, Trevor Kniffen, and Trilby Trayler and her husband, Tim, all of Texas; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Meadows, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis McPike, in September 2007; one son-in-law, Frank Bounds; two grandsons, Jory Kniffen and Reuben Kniffen; one sister, Ona Mae Ritter; and two brothers, Bill and Merle McPike.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Green & Harrel Chapel, with Bro. Clark Carlo officiating. Burial will be in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
