EMERSON HOWARD ABTS, 88, retired Elder of the Indiana Conference, died Thursday, March 31, 2011. A memorial service was held Tuesday morning, May 3, at the Pleasant Hill Community Church United Church of Christ, 67 Church Street, Pleasant Hill, Tenn., with the Rev. Tom Warren officiating. Survivors include: his wife, Helen. Condolences can be sent to Helen Abts, P.O. Box 64, Pleasant Hill, TN 38578-0064. Abts was ordained in Ohio and transferred to Indiana in 1968. In Indiana, he served as associate at Central Ave. in Indianapolis, Wall Street in Jeffersonville, chaplain at the University of Evansville and at Santa Claus. He retired in 1987.
