Born on Oakland hill in the city, she was the daughter of the pioneer Landes family which moved to Frankfort. She received a B.S. degree from Purdue in 1910. She belonged to Phi Lambda Psi, predecessor of Kappa Alpha Theta. She taught school at Frankfort and in Chicago and in John Burroughs school in Detriot. Her husband is her only survivor.
