Born in Greece
(Roumeli, Krekelion) to Demetrious Haralambopoulos and Jennie (Zaharopoulos). She immigrated to this country on December 25, 1920.
Catherine died on April 14, 1991 while recouperating at the Willimansett Nursing Home in Chicopee, Mass. She was 90, and was living at 114 Shaine Circle in Springfield at the time. She had lived in Springfield for 71 years. Cause of death: Myocardial Infraction and Aortic Stenosis.
Husband Paniote (Taki) Demos, who owned Teddy's Luncheonette at Stearns Square, predeceased her in 1957
and a sister, Penelope Roukas Also, two brothers (Theodore and Harry) predeceased her in Greece. She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, and it's Over-60 Club.
She leaves beloved sons, Theodore P. Demos of Wethersfield, Ct., James Demos of Springfield, Mass. and Louis P. Demos of Feeding Hills, Mass. Also beloved daughters Jennie Goulet of Lake Spofford, New Hampshire and Alexandra Demos of Springfield, Mass. and two sisters in Athens Greece: Eleni and Athanasia. Daughters Elizabeth Campbell and Christine Wojcik also predeceased her. She leaves a neice, Catherine Darmoschwat of Springfield,
and nephew George Roukas along with 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral was held on Wednesday morning 9 a.m. at Hafey East Longmeadow Chapels,120 Shaker Road, and at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 10 a.m. in Springfield with officiating priest, Fr. Peter Atsales.Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetary. Calling hours will be this afternoon from 2-4 and evening from 7-9. Donations may be made to the Cathedral at 8 Plainfield St., or to the charity of one's choice.
