Professional Baseball Player. Bando played for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics from 1966 to 1976 and the Milwaukee Brewers from 1977 to 1981. A vital member of the Athletics' three straight World Series championship-winning clubs from 1972 to 1974, the third baseman became a full-time player in 1968, appearing in a league-leading 162 games. He led the American League in games played four times, was named to four All-Star teams, and received votes for Most Valuable Player in seven seasons, finishing second in voting in 1971, fourth in 1973 and third in 1974. He ranked in the top eight in his league in on-base percentage and runs scored three times and runs batted in five times. Bando later served as the general manager of the Brewers from 1991 to 1998 and was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers Wall of Honor and the Athletics Hall of Fame.
