Funeral services for Merle E. McClure, 75, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lawrence. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mr. McClure died Friday, July 21, 2000, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Lawrence, the son of Raymond and Freida (Ewing) McClure.
Mr. McClure attended Bethany College in Lindsborg and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He retired as captain for the Lawrence Police Department after 25 years of service. He then worked as the head of security for Quaker Oats in Lawrence for 14 years. He also served a year as a bus driver for USD 497.
He was a member of the Lawrence second ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as High Priest in the local church.
He married Janice Rigby Feb. 17, 1957, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Others survivors include two daughters, Lisa Little, St. Joseph, Mo., and Alyson Christensen, Lehi, Utah; a son, Darren, Lawrence; two brothers, Lauren, Lawrence, and Bruce, Cottonwood, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.
