Lucy Alexandria Northcutt Hawkins was the daughter of John Alexander and Lucy Welch Northcutt. Her parents, who married in 1864, came to Texas from Paulding County, Georgia between 1868 when son Thomas was born in Georgia and 1871 when son Elijah was born in Texas. She met her husband, Allie Hawkins, in New Mexico. Her family lived in Kenna, Chaves County, NM and Allie's family lived in Floyd, Roosevelt Co, NM. They obtained a marriage license 15 Feb 1908 in Portales, the county seat of Roosevelt, NM. Before settling in Lubbock, they lived in Tulia, Texas and San Benito, Texas (1920) census. In the 1930 census, Al reported that he owned a Tailor Shop. While Lucy was an excellent seamstress, she reported that she did not work. When Allie opened a dry cleaning business in Lubbock, she worked in alterations for the family concern. After his death in 1950, Lucy worked in the alterations dept. at Dunlap's Dept.
