Stephen "Steve" A. Winkler
November 17, 1949 - January 18, 2023

Stephen Allen "Steve" Winkler, 73, died January 18, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born November 17, 1949, in Hutchinson, to WilliamAllen "Bill" and Evelyn Eileen (Strohm) Winkler.

Steve graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968, and received his associate's degree from Hutchinson Community Junior College. He worked in management at Sears over 25 years, before retiring from building homes for Interfaith Housing in 2015. Steve was a "self-doer". He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, and "making things". When Steve's sons were younger, he was a Webelos Leader and a member of "Wizards of Wichita", learning along with his son, Mike, magician tricks. Steve was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson.

On June 28, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Louise "Kathy" Burdette, at Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson.

Steve is survived by: his wife of over 53 years, Kathy Winkler; sons, Joe Winkler and Mike Winkler (Leah), all of Hutchinson; brother, Brad Winkler (June) of Tucson, AZ; and four grandchildren, Emily Winkler, Britney Winkler, Finley Winkler, and Rowan Winkler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jonathan Paul Winkler.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Wayne DeWindt officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Eastwood Church of Christ, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
