Alatha was born in Effingham Co., GA to Mary Zetrouer and Michael Garrison. She married Henry Hope of Liberty Co., GA prior to 1840. The family moved to Alachua Co., Territory of Florida between 1832-33. Apparently, the families lived all over Alachua Co. during the 2nd Seminole Indian War, but specifically at Hague c1846 before moving to Hernando Co., Florida and settling at Spring lake where her father, Michael Garrison had transferred his AOA 160 acres to Henry Hope. After her husband died, she continued to live at Spring Lake and donated land for a Church and Cemetery. No one had written her date of death or location of her burial, but it is believed she is in an unmarked grave beside Henry Hope in the Brooksville City Cemetery.
