Virginia "Ginny" Rae Hunter, 78, of Great Falls, Montana passed away on November 2, 2022, at Highgate Senior Living under the care of Benefis Hospice. She died of leukemia.

Ginny was born in Porath Hospital, Storm Lake, IA to Glen and Delephine (Barnhill) Uren on June 12, 1944. She was raised on the family farm near Sulphur Springs, IA. She attended school in Sulphur Springs and Newell, Iowa, and graduated in 1962. Ginny married her high school sweetheart, Jim Hunter, on October 26, 1963. Jim and Ginny had three daughters, Brenda, Rhonda, and Paula. They had 55 years together before Jim's death in 2018.

Ginny was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy came from taking care of those around her. Ginny's family was the recipient of her immense patience and generosity. She would bake every child's and grandchild's "favorite." She also enjoyed sewing and crafting. Ginny and Jim traveled extensively (across the country) to attend sporting events and activities supporting their children and grandchildren. Jim and Ginny moved to Great Falls, Montana in 2008 to be closer to family.

Preceding Ginny in death were her husband, Jim; her parents; parents-in-law (Harold and Wanda Hunter); and her brother-in-law, Jerry Westcott.

Ginny is survived by her three daughters, Brenda (Patrick) Hunter Stanton of Dexter, MI, Rhonda (Gary) Hunter-Lucero of Great Falls, MT, and Paula (Brian) Olsen of Great Falls, MT. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, Laura Stanton of Philadelphia, PA, Ryan Stanton of Monterey, CA, Thomas Stanton of Dexter, MI, Tanner Olsen of Great Falls, MT, James Olsen of Missoula, MT, Jake Olsen of Great Falls, MT, and Allie Olsen of Salt Lake City, UT. She is also survived by her sister, Pat Wescott of Milford, IA; sisters-in-law, Judy (Dale) Bodholdt of Newell, IA, and Bonnie Hunter of Storm Lake, IA; brothers-in-law, Gary (Ann) Hunter of Omaha, NE and Lary (Diane) Hunter of Waverly, IA. Ginny maintained a lifelong friendship with Donna (Hanson) Bodholdt of Sioux Falls, SD.

Ginny's family would like to thank the amazing caregivers at Highgate Senior Living. Ginny was well taken care of during her time there and considered many of the staff to be dear friends.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. The family suggests memorial donations in Ginny's name to either the Highgate Together Fund c/o Great Falls Highgate (3000 11th Ave South, Great Falls, MT 59405) or the Newell-Fonda Community School Foundation (205 South Clark Street, Newell, IA 50568).
