Mahala was the daughter of Jotham & Nancy Harris Watson. She married John K. Tucker, 7 Nov 1874, Fayette County, Illinois.

Obituary

Mahala Katherine Watson was born in Fayette County, Illinois, Dec. 3, 1851 and departed this life Aug. 6, 1921, aged 69 years, 8 months, 4 days.

She became a member of the United Brethren Church in early womanhood and held to that faith ever afterward.

She was married to John Kenny Tucker in 1873(sic) and this union 10 children were born—three having preceded her to the great beyond, namely: Lona, aged 11 mo., Kinney, aged 36, and Myrtle, aged 25.

On Oct. 21, 1898 she was a left a widow with several small children to train and care for.

She leaves to mourn her departure four daughters and three sons besides a host of relatives and friends. The surviving children are: Mrs. Andrew Hardin, of Beecher City, Mrs. James McConnel, of Taylorville, Mrs. Wm. Woodsworth, of Decatur, Mrs. Jno. Jennings, of Pocahontas, Burline of Havelock, Ia., Alvin, of Terre Haute, Ind., and John, who remained at home to care for her in her declining days.

Mrs. Tucker Dead

Mrs. Mahala Tucker, who has been quite ill the past several weeks at the home of her son near the Victory School House, passed away Saturday night about midnight.

The funeral services were conducted at the Post Oak U.B. Church Tuesday morning and interment was made in Ransom Cemetery.
