Bertha Clezelle McGregor 78, homemaker, Town Creek
Funeral for Bertha Clezelle McGregor was held Wednesday, September 10, 2 p.m., at Bethany Baptist Church with Mike McCulloch officiating. Burial was in the Blackground Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing. Mrs. McGregor died Monday, September 8, 1997, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born in Lawrence County to Mary Patterson and Thomas M. Burden. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star #249. Survivors include her husband, Ben McGregor; two daughters, Shirley Carpenter of Town Creek and Opal Givens of Arley; two sisters, Lillie Simmons of Leighton and Kathleen Johnson of Muscle Shoals; two brothers, Hubert Burden and Ray Burden, both of Leighton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Leonard Lovelady, Willis Lansdell, Willard Parker, Wayman Bain, Thanial Burden and Cleavon Burden.
