Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 4 Nov 1875 p3: "Obituary---The very sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Freeland C. Brown, of Foxcroft, daughter of J. H. Campbell, Esq., of Medford, reminds us that as for man, his days are as grass, as the flower of the field so he flourisheth, tho wind passeth over it, and it is gone and the place thereof shall know it no more. Brightly as the flower she bloomed, and suddenly as its stem was snapped, was she hurried from time to eternity---but not unprepared. In early life she had given her heart to her Saviour, and her daily life since, had been a living witness that she was a child of God. She was the idol of her devoted husband, and in her were centered all his hopes of earthly happiness. Two fleeting years to a day had passed, since she was united in marriage to Mr. Brown, and left us a happy blooming bride, hopes pregnant with life's enjoyment, anticipating much future happiness, when the startling intelligence thrilled our hearts that she was the bride of Heaven.

Her natural qualities were eminently adapted to give her a wide influence in society, and to endear her to her many friends. Though young, the circle of her acquaintance was extensive, and her death has left a pang in many a sorrowing heart. Fond parents, brothers, and a loving sister mourn her sudden departure. The deep sympathy of a numerous circle of acquaintances are with the friends in their sorrow. May her God support them, and sanctify the affliction to their good.

Fold her dear Savior in thine arms,
And let her henceforth be
A messenger of love to draw,
Our wandering hearts to Thee. J. B. Crane"
