Mary Lou died peacefully at home Feb. 22, 2008.

She was born in Logan, UT, April 19, 1928 to Ervin T. and Brenda Smith Hawkins. She graduated from Logan High in 1946. Married Bertin Kyle Bateman in March 1948. He died July 1952. They had one daughter, Kayleen. Graduated from USU 1955. Married Mahonri Trussler Butterfield, Aug. 1955 and moved to Seattle with him and his son, Gary. They moved back to Logan in 1957. In 1991 they moved to Fruit Heights, Utah. She was an active LDS Church member.

Was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dwight S. Scoville; parents; and sister, LaRue H. Reeves. Survived by her husband; five children, Gary (Sylvia) Seattle, WA; Kayleen Bateman Scoville and DeAnn Oliekan (Granger), Kaysville; Blair (Susan) Gilbert, AZ, Layne (Donna) Lima, Peru; brother, George E. Hawkins (Lorraine); brother-in-law, D. Eugene Reeves; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held February 25th 2008 at 11 a.m. the South Mountain Road LDS Chapel, in Fruit Heights. A Viewing will be held on Feb. 24th at the Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary (across from Cherry Hill Water Park) from 6-8 p.m. and at the Chapel prior to the Service from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 at the Logan City Cemetery.
