Son of David & Catherine Mee, brother of Abraham, Isaac, David, Sarah, John, Richard. William and his brothers Isaac and Richard owned a ranch in Ft Benton, Montana during the 1870s and 1880s. After the deaths of Isaac and Richard, William returned to Ashland, KY, near the home of his sister Sarah, where his drinking got him into a lot of trouble and an inconvenient relationship. When William died, the people of Ashland tried to bury him in Ashland and collect his large inheritance from the sale of the ranch. William's nephew, James Isaac Mee, took a train to Ashland, went to the funeral home and recovered his uncle's body and his inheritance. Since James was a large man, nobody at the funeral home tried to stop him. His actions shocked the town of Ashland and made the city newspaper. James took William's body back to Somerville, Ohio where he was buried in the family plot at the Somerville cemetery.
