Mr. Snyder died Thursday, July 6, 2000, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa.
He was born April 3, 1916, in Ottawa, the son of W.A. and Margaret (Anderson) Snyder. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1934 and attended Kansas University before World War II and earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy in 1953 from KU.
Mr. Snyder was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Coast Artillery before he served as a company commander with the 13th Armored Division in Europe.
Along with Ralph Robertson, he formed the Snyder-Robertson Flying Service in 1946. They were the first operators of Ottawa Municipal Airport.
After earning his degree, Mr. Snyder worked as a pharmacist in Santa Barbara, Calif., and then owned and operated Snyder Pharmacy in Ottawa for 13 years. He later worked for drug stores in the Ottawa area until his retirement.
He was a member of Elks Lodge, Ottawa, and American Legion, Lawrence, and he played clarinet for the Bob Blum Big Band, Ottawa, and the Junkyard Jazz Band, Lawrence.
He married Nina Barnes on June 17, 1942, in Riverside, Calif. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Karen Sue Yates, Fresno, Calif.; and a granddaughter.
