Betty was born the daughter of Jess and Agnes (Blalack) Jackson on March 29, 1933, in Ochelata. She is the last surviving of her five siblings. Betty was raised in Bartlesville. One day in 1948 while working at the Coney Island, a friend introduced her to Leroy Smith. They fell in love and united in marriage in February of 1951. They made their home in Bartlesville where they raised their four children. Betty worked for Memorial Hospital for several years. Leroy preceded her in death after 38 years of marriage during 1989.
Betty loved taking small trips with friends and family. She also enjoyed trying new restaurants along the way. Most of all she loved her family and taking care of her children and grandchildren. Betty was kind, loving and always giving. She was dearly loved by her family.
Betty is survived by her sons, Roy Smith and wife Sherry, and John Smith and wife Laura; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, son Steve Smith, daughter Debbie Shambles, and five siblings.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12-5 and Monday 9-11, at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, at 2 p.m., at the Ochelata Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown
