William "Bill" J. McKeon, 90, of Elberfeld passed away Friday January 13, 2023. He was born September 12, 1932 to Mrs. Anna & Mr. Aloysius McKeon in South Amboy, New Jersey.

Bill graduated from St. Mary's HS, South Amboy, NJ & St. Benedicts Prep School, Newark, NJ. Where he was All State Baseball for (3) years. He went on to graduate from Seton Hall Univ. with BS & MA Degree's. Bill was a US Army Veteran serving in Germany where he coached the 516 Division Baseball team to the European Baseball Championship in 1955. He also played Football and Basketball with the 516th Division.

Bill was Administrative Assistant HS. Principal/ Athletic Director/ Baseball Coach/ Driver Ed Chair-person in Old Bridge Twp. NJ, Assistant Superintendent Keansburg HS. Keansburg, NJ and HS Principal of Washington Catholic HS. Washington, Indiana and President of the Old Bridge Twp. Teachers Union.

He served as President of the South Amboy Recreation Department for (10) years and President of the Board of Adjustment South Amboy (10) years, Volunteer Firemen (25) years. Bill was also chairperson & originator of the first South Amboy Blood Bank in South Amboy, NJ in 1963.

Bill was a former professional baseball player with the Boston/Milwaukee Braves organization (Evansville Braves 1956 & 57). He worked as a professional baseball scout and Coach (Eastern Supervisor Kansas City Royals), Major League Spring Training Catching Coach for the San Diego Padres in 1984, and Major League/Special Assignment Scout for the San Diego Padres General Manager 1984 to 1990. He was also the originator of the Kansas City Royals Baseball Academy in 1970, and the co-organizer of the Tri-State Hot Stove Baseball League in 1988

Bill was a baseball coach for Mount Saint Clare College 1993 to 1997. He was also baseball coach /manager/advisor for the Evansville Otters professional baseball team and Radio Color Commentator for the Otters up until August 2022.

In 2008 he was elected to the South Amboy, NJ. St. Mary's HS. Athletic Hall of Fame and in 2011 was elected to the Prestigious All American Baseball Tournament Hall of Fame in Johnstown PA. He was a former member of the Friends of Bosse Field, North HS Baseball Club, President of the St. John's Daylight Catholic Church Men's Club and former Knights of Columbus Grand Knight of Council's 565 & 14569 and Trustee for the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Council.

What Bill loved most was spending time with is beloved wife Elizabeth, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Unfried McKeon in 1957 and was the father of daughters, Cindy Sapp (Jason), Mary Ann Parisi (Danny), Deborah Muller (Ron); sons Michael (Kim), Tim, David (Dawn), Jeff (Elizabeth); grandfather of Bianca Roland, Alessandra Roland, Erin McKeon, Amanda Muller, Megan Muller, Caitlin Muller and Katie McKeon, David W., McKeon. Austin Roland, Austin Knapp, Sean McKeon, Gavin McKeon and great grandfather of Shailynn McKeon, and Liam McKeon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday January 16, 2023 at St. John's Catholic Church in Daylight, with burial to follow. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday January 15, 2023 at Alexander North Chapel.
