Benjamin Stuart was the youngest son of immigrant Archibald Stuart and Janet Brown. He was believed to be born in about 1736 in Pennsylvania.

He 1st married Eleanor Tate.

They had 8 known Stuart children:
Agnes Nancy (John Alexander)
Elizabeth (George Hutcheson, Jr.)
John (Isabella Coulter) moved to IL (check out FaG #109597206?)
Sarah (James Dittle)
Mary (John McClung) 3 Mar 1769 - 27 May 1842
Archibald (Mary Alexander) abt 1777 - 15 dec 1849, below
Benjamin, Jr. abt 1793 - 29 Nov 1814, below

He married 2nd to a Miss Henderson.

They had 2 Stuart children:
John, died early
Mary (Samuel H Steele).

Benjamin inherited the old family mansion, on what is now (in 1873) Mr. Pratt's farm. After immigrating here, his father first settled in Augusta Co., VA on this farm, in about 1737-38. "He was a man of sterling character and great benevolence." The Staunton Spectator (VA) dated 8 July 1873, p 1 & 4, on several generations of the Stuart family.
