RODGERS - Jay Chapman, "J.C.", 91; Johnstown, passed away on January 10, 2023 at Windber Hospital. Born August 31, 1931 in Jackson Township, son of Samuel Sr. and Clara (Chapman) Rodgers. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife of 70 years, Kathryn M. (Dryzal) Rodgers; son Gary Rodgers; brothers Robert Rodgers and Samuel Rodgers Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Joe, Frank and H. Donald Dryzal. Survived by daughter-in-law, Christine Rodgers; granddaughter Kelsey Rodgers; brother, Jack Rodgers and wife Jill; sisters-in-law, Jean Dryzal and Joan Rodgers; brother-in-law Eugene Dryzal and wife Barbara; special niece, Diana Veney, her husband P.J., and their children, Brady and Bailey; and nieces and nephews. JC and his granddaughter Kelsey shared a very special bond, one that will never be forgotten or replaced. He was a kind, patient and selfless man who was loved by all those who knew him. He will be so very deeply missed. His family finds peace knowing he is finally reunited with his beloved wife and son. Retired Quality Control, Metallurgy Department of Bethlehem Steel Corp. He enjoyed bowling, coin and stamp collecting, and hunting. He and Kay would often go to plays at Cresson Playhouse, Mountain Playhouse, Pasquerilla Center, and even high school plays. He is a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Friends received Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Private Entombment will be at Grandview Mausoleum at a later date. Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com
