Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, taken from this world too soon. Paul Peter Christopher Frank Sr., 68, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 10, 2023. His family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden passing.
Born on November 16, 1954, to Stephen and Theresa Frank, Paul was raised on a small family farm in Defiance, OH. After graduating from Tinora High School, Paul followed in the footsteps of his father, working various positions at Johns Manville for over 35 years, including laborer, machine chief, and mechanical maintenance. Paul advanced his career, receiving an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwest State Community College and becoming a Journeyman Mechanic. After a long, successful career, becoming a member of the quarter-century club, Paul retired in 2017.
Throughout his life, Paul was referred to in many ways. He was a devoted son and brother. He then became a loyal husband, after meeting his solemate at a birthday party of a mutual friend. He later became a father and grandfather, lovingly referred to as Pops, Papa Bear, Papah, and Pawpaw. If you asked him, his children and grandchildren were the joys of his life.
Paul could always be found working with his hands. From electrical, to woodworking, to computers, to cars, Paul was a jack of all trades. He loved using his talents to help his community, contributing to numerous projects with the Boy Scouts, Humane Society, and Auglaize Village. Paul was also an avid Ohio State fan, a grill master, and an active member of his church.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Kathy "Kate" (Fox) Frank of 43 years; his children Paul Peter Christopher "Chip" (Mary) Frank II of Defiance, OH and Mckenna Elise (Michael) Cozad of Mogadore, OH; and his grandchildren Paul Peter Christopher "Marty" Frank III and Maggie Elizabeth Marie Frank. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, and the families of his siblings, Stephen (Mary) Frank Jr. of Strongsville, OH and Theresa Frank DDS (Ron Bucher) of Sunnyvale, CA, as well as his nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen J. and Theresa (Casella) Frank.
Memorial service will be held at Zion's Lutheran Church, 1801 E. 2nd St., Defiance, OH on Saturday, January 14, 2023, with visitation at 9 and service at 11. If desired, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local Boys Scouts, which Paul was involved with for many years with both his son and grandson.
Donations can be sent to St. John Lutheran Church, 655 Wayne Ave., Defiance, OH 43512, care of Steve Zachrich. Please make checks payable to Troop 75.
Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
