Kay DeVaughn, age 83, of Brighton, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. She was a retired accounts manager for International Paper, and member of Clopton United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. Whether you saw Mrs. Kay at church, or when you first entered the door at Baptist Tipton, where she worked as a pbx operator, you were always greeted with a warm smile and a friendly hello. In her free time, she would spend her weekends volunteering at the Clopton Church HUB. She was a lovely lady, always willing to help others, and through her works, she touched many lives and hearts.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughter, Phyllis (Robert) Trotter; her son, Danny (Tammy) McLennan; two brothers, Jimmy Blachard and Dennis Blanchard; three grandchildren, Madison, Dakota, and Joshua, and five great-grandchildren, Aubree, Bryant, Keegan, Kamari, and Hazel.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Terrell McLennan and Eulys T. DeVaughn; two brothers, Gary Blanchard and Butch Lavender, and one grandson, Caleb Trotter.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kay will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, January 8, at Clopton United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in Clopton Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 2:00pm, until service time. Reverend Bill Marler will officiate the service. Covington Funeral Home has charge of services. Friends may sign an online guestbook at www.covingtonfuneralhome.com.
