Clide Herbert Brinson, 84, of Ringwood Oklahoma passed away peacefully on January 9, 2023 after his struggle with dementia.
Clide was born the oldest son to Charley and Elnora Brinson in Aline, Oklahoma on June 12, 1938. From the time he was a little boy, Clide was the definition of hard work. He helped take care of his younger brothers, worked on the farm planting, weeding, harvesting the fields, and working cattle. He joined the Army National Guard while still in high school, serving a total of 12 years. After graduation from Ringwood High School, his hard work continued as he farmed and checked oil wells. He had a cement business with his brothers working concrete. He was also a contract pumper for most all his life, and this was probably his most favorite work of all. So much so, he kept checking at least one well right up until he was 82 years of age.
Clide married his bride, Roberta Cornell on August 16, 1968. After trying several years to have children, they adopted their first child, a son, Jamie in 1975. Two years later they adopted a daughter, Barbie in November of 1977. Then in 1979, much to their surprise, they finally became pregnant and welcomed Misty into the family on December 19, 1979.
Clide enjoyed many hobbies and activities from his early years including bowling in leagues, building train tracks and dollhouses, playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing, woodworking, keeping gate at the ballgames, and watching his nieces, nephews, kids, and grandkids play sports. No one can deny his avid love for anything OU. Clide enjoyed serving in the Masons, American Legion, and his local Lions Club. He was a true servant and had a heart of gold. He quite literally would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need. He had a deep love for his family and was always trying to make someone laugh. Anyone who knew Clide will have some story to tell.
Clide is survived and will be greatly missed by his son, James "Jamie" Brinson and wife, Bobbi of Enid; daughter, Barbara "Barbie" Ools and husband, Les of Enid; eight grandchildren, Blake and wife, Alicia, Jaden, Kelsie and fiancé ,Brett, Harley, Garrett and wife, Trish, Audrey, Justin, and Gavin; seven great grandchildren, Braxton, Spencer, Tatum, Paityn, Oakley, Takota, and Blakley; two great-great grandbabies due very soon; his brother, Gary Brinson and wife, Glenda of Fairview as well as many nieces and nephews.
Clide is preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Elnora Brinson; his wife, Roberta; youngest child, Misty ,and three brothers, Junior, Jerry and Steve Brinson.
