Donald L. James, 79, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his residence in Nederland.

Donald was born on July 10, 1943 in DeRidder, Louisiana to Hettie Marcel James.

He worked at Atlantic Richfield as a foreman for twenty-nine years before he retired. Donald attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. Donald had many hobbies including riding motorcycles, driving his Corvette, scuba diving, hunting, deep sea fishing and even spear fishing.

He was known for many things but he mainly loved his family and friends and will be missed dearly by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Survivors include his son, Donald Paul James of Nederland, his sister, Shelby Delores Monk of Texas City, Texas, his grandchildren, Jewel Melancon, John K. James, Jr. and Marley James, two great grandchildren, Guinny Campbell and Amos Campbell.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Gean Horn James and his brother, James Thomas Byrd (239765477).

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 5~8pm, Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm, Friday, January 13, 2023, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland.

Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.

Serving as Pallbearers will be John James, Jr., Richard Guidry, Johnny Lopez, Joel Moss, Sidney Errington, Tony Byrd, Mike Wright and Micah Elms.
