Clyde Lafferty married Ruby Mae Edington about 1928 in McAlister, Oklahoma. The couple lived in several Oklahoma counties as Clyde worked in the oil fields as an oil gauger. His job took him to Venezuela, South America. He died in an accident while trying to cross a bridge on a rain swollen river and got caught up in a flash flood. Clyde Oliver Lafferty died July 29, 1944, on the Guarapiche River near Jusepin, Cedeno Monagas, Venezuela .
