Virginia Beverly Johnson, daughter of Marvin and Bernice (Butz) Johnson, was born on December 22, 1927, in Eagle Grove. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1945.
On November 2, 1946, Virginia married Raymond M. Parrish at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked for 23 years for ISU Press in Ames in the accounting department. The couple lived and farmed outside of Jewell until Raymond's death, when Virginia moved into Jewell.
Surviving are her daughter, Karleen (Tim) Valley of Jewell; son, Dennis (Cheryl) Parrish of Massanutten, Virginia; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Charlene Baker of Des Moines.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1986; son, Michael Parrish in 1994; her parents; siblings, Marvin Johnson Jr., John Johnson, Bernard Johnson, Delores Wergeland, and Marlene Vorland.
