Ransom Bennett was the son of Elijah Bennett and Edna Pruitt Bennett, the husband of Matilda Rowland Bennett, and the father of: Luiza Jane Bennett White, Mary Emeline Bennett Lambert, Walter William Bennett, John Sanford Bennett, and Nancy E. Bennett.

According to "American Civil War Soldiers," Ransom Bennett was with the Georgia 36th Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted on 10 May 1862 in Pickens County and "died of disease ... on 19 July 1862 in Pickens County."


NOTE: His tombstone gives a death date of 19 Jul 1864.
