Berniece High, daughter of George Walter and Bertha Mae Chapman Dugger, was born January 13, 1917, in Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, August 18, 2004, in St. John's Regional Health Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, seven months and five days.
On December 29, 1942, in Abilene, Texas, she was united in marriage to Arthur Cecil High.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur, on January 20, 1987; three brothers, Van, John and Howard Dugger; a sister, Fern Taylor; and her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Jo Moore.
Berniece is survived by her son, Ronnie Moore, of Hartville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Rhonda Moore and Bill Mccomb, of Iberia, Missouri, Kelly and Doris Moore, and Brian and Beverly Moore, all of Hartville, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Marvin, Tonia, LaDonna, Karen, Brandon, Cameron and MacKenzie; six great-great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Aimee, Kyle, Tiffany, Cameron, and Quentin; a sister, Lois Auerbach, of the State of New York; a brother, Bill Dugger, of Hartville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Hartville and attended the Johnson School. After she and Arthur were married they lived in Seattle, Washington, while Arthur was serving in the military. Following his discharge from the service, they resided in San Francisco, California and Kansas City, Missouri for several years before moving back home to Hartville in 1960.
Berniece had made her profession of faith in Christ, and, in her earlier years, attended the Red Hill Church.
She centered her life around her family and greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as Granny. In her spare time she enjoyed being outdoors, going fishing, gardening, and taking walks.
Berniece was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the the Wynn Cemetery, south of Hartville, Missouri. Visitation will be Friday eveing from 7 - 8:30 under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
