William "Bill" Roach Whalen, Overland Park, KS died at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Mr. Whalen was a systems analyst for the U.S. Department of Agrculture. He earned his masters degree in physics form UMKC in 1996. Bill was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary and a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a Navy veteran. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus and had been a Boy Scout leader of Troop #181 in Lenexa.

William Whalen was preceeded in death by his parents Edward and Elizabeth Roach Whalen, his brother Edward Paul and son Michael R. Whalen.

He is survived by his wife Joan, 3 sons Bill, Chris, Mark and 3 daughters Karen, Mary Chris and Debbie. He is the grandfather to Christopher, Karl, Aaron, Adam, Ian, Brandon, Alex, Conner, Melissa, Christine and Nicole.

Four great grandsons and three great grandaughters.
