Shirley Marie Adams, 77 of Arkansas City died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Winfield Senior Living. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Arkansas City.

Shirley was born January 22, 1945 to Chester Arthur Bates and Hallie Marie (Fry) in Denver. CO. She attended Geuda Springs Schools as a youngster. On August 12, 1977, she married Bob Adams in Arkansas City. The couple made their home in Rose Hill, and Douglass on a farm for 20 years, and eventually back to Arkansas City. She was a baker at Dillons and a very devout Christian.

Shirley is survived by Children, Jeffrey R. Adams, Karen L. Simmons and Greg, Karen S. Burkholder, Kenneth R. Taylor, and Johnathan R. Adams and Kimberley; sister Charlotte Stout; brothers, Carl Bates; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in July 2022; brothers, Darrell Bates, Ben Bates, Jerry Bates, Lloyd Bates, Ray Bates; Junior Bates and sister Irene.
