Funeral services were today (Thursday) in the Grace Lutheran Church at Sisseton with the Rev. William Schruba officiating.
Burial was in the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Claire City. Active pallbearers were Gary Aadland, Scott and Aaron Buss, Elroy Dahlberg, Cody and Grant Ellsworth and Trevin Westby.
The Cahill Funeral Chapel in Sisseton was in charge of arrangements.
Myrtle Elfrida Anderson was born Sept. 28, 1909, near Claire City to Peter and Marie (Walden) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church as long as she was able. She was a longtime circle member and enjoyed quilting.
She was married in 1926 at Sisseton to Richard Holland. The couple farmed in Roberts County. She was a great helpmate, working and helping her husband whenever she was needed. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting afghans and she made several quilts that she gave to her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her holiday meals were festive occasions and Scandinavian baking was one of her specialties. She will always be remembered as a loving, generous and fun loving person who always enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble and visiting with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Westby of Aberdeen; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
