Paula Virginia Fowler Allred, 68, of Vernal, was born May 19, 1932 in Duchesne, a daughter of Henry and Della West Fowler.

She lived for many years in Oak Creek and Dinosaur, Colo. In April 1950 she married Lawrence McKenzie Allred in Winnemucca, Nev. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple 1957.

Paula with her family lived in Rangely, Colo. for 32 years where she graduated from Rangely High School. She was a stay-at home mom, loved to sew, decorate cakes, crochet and everything else that goes into making a fine home.

When Lawrence retired, they moved everything, including their house to Vernal. Paula's favorite movie was "Moses;" her favorite books are the scriptures and church books. Because of her scripture study, she enjoyed teaching the Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class for many years.

She loved old-time songs, church hymns, and singing with the singing mothers. Her favorite restaurant was the Red Lobster, although she would often go to the Golden Corral with Lawrence. Her most memorable occasions have been associated with her church callings.

She served for 20 years on the Craig Stake Relief Society board where she loved teaching the Relief Society social sciences class and taught the young women in Mutual. One of her favorite activities was taking annual summer trips to Missouri where her father and step-mother lived. If Paula had a day all to herself, she would read the scriptures and church books for hours on end, then top off her day by eating a shrimp dinner.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of Vernal; children, Deborah (Leslie) Stalker, Alamosa, Colo.; Lawrence Wayne (Linda) Allred, Eaton, Colo.; Della Christine (Mark) Humpherys, Atlanta, Ga.; Paul Howard Allred, Laramie, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 17 in the Glines 4th Ward Chapel.

Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thomson Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
