George W. Copp, age 80, died at his home in West Alexandria, Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock, following an extended illness. He was born near Dadsville, being the son of the late Joseph and Miriam Copp, pioneer residents of the community, and lived his entire life in this community. In his early manhood he attended Lebanon Normal university and taught school a number of years in Twin and Harrison Townships and was also music supervisor in Twin township and the West Alexandria schools. For 25 years he was director of music in the Salem Lutheran Church, retiring when his health failed about 12 years ago. At one time he served as justice of the peace in Twin township. He and his wife celebrated their golden anniversary last December. They were married December 30, 1886 by Rev. Baughman, at that time pastor of the local Lutheran church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Margaret (Voge) Copp; two daughters, misses Florence and Blanche Copp, at home, teachers in the Dayton schools; five sons, Howard of West Alexandria, Herman, supervisor of music in the Middletown schools; James of West Manchester; Paul of Gary Ind; and Frederick of Boston, Mass; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Trick of Dayton and Mrs. Mary Sauer of West Alexandria and seven grandchildren. He had been a member of Salem Lutheran Church for more than 49 years. Funeral services were conducted from Salem Lutheran Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A. E. Bradow officiating minister. Burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery
