Mr. Joseph Dominic Favaro of Atascosa, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the age of 80.
Joseph was born on January 16, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Dominic F. and Aldine McGary Favaro. He was raised in the small community of Washburn, IL.
Commander Favaro was commissioned from the United States Naval Academy in 1965 and served as an A-6 pilot, including three Vietnam war tours. He retired after 24 years of service in 1985.
After which he built several successful businesses, including Nogalitos Gear and Southwest Automatic Parts. In addition, he was a farmer and rancher in Southwest Bexar County.
Joseph was proud of his large garden and vineyard and enjoyed hard work on the farm.
In retirement, he loved to travel with family to his condo in Costa del Sol, Spain and annual trips to New Orleans, Louisiana.
He married Norma Wheatley on May 5, 1984 at the Kelly Air Force Base Chapel, San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Favaro is survived by his wife: Norma Wheatley Favaro of Atascosa
He was a proud father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by his children:Tiffany and Lane Traylor of San Antonio, TX, Dominic and Tracey Favaro of Portland, TX, Constance and Eric Hall of San Antonio, TX, Colleen and Levi Ogana of Fairview, TX.
His four grandchildren: Reece Traylor, Mason Traylor, Elise Ogana and Nora Ogana
One brother and one sister: Richard and Laurie Favaro of California, Lynn Favaro of California
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother: Aldine Favaro, John Paul Favaro and Father and Mother-in-law: Robert and Mildred Wheatley
In death, Joseph will lie in state in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, TX on Friday, January 6, from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. with a Rosary Service at 1:30 P.M. and a Mass of Resurrection at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. John Nolan officiating.
Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in his memory to the St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or to the charity of your choice.
