Kaysville – Norma Robins Swallow 96, passed away peacefully December 30, 2022, at Sunridge Assisted Living in Layton, Utah. The family would like to thank all the caregivers from Sunridge and Elevation Hospice for the loving care provided. We would also like to thank Lindquist Mortuary for their attentive care.
Norma was born on the kitchen table of her family home in West Kaysville, Utah, February 27, 1926, to Maud Burningham and David Day Robins. She had a very different childhood, living on a farm through the depression. She has seen the world change to indoor plumbing and many innovations all the way through to our current technologies. She graduated from Davis High School in 1944.
On April 18, 1946, she married Chad C Swallow, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; whom she had been writing to during World War II. They moved to Meadow, Utah, the first year of marriage, eventually moving to Roy, Utah, where Chad and Norma raised their family. In 1971 they moved to Kaysville, Utah, Norma's hometown, where their youngest son grew up.
Norma worked in several places in various positions, retiring from Hill Air Force Base, June 30, 1989 after 35 years of service. After retirement Chad and Norma enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and wintering in Arizona and California. They loved to dance and have danced all through their marriage; winning awards while dancing in Death Valley, California. When they were not traveling they selflessly took care of grandchildren and great-grandchildren while parents worked. Norma had talent in art and made some beautiful scratch art pictures.
Norma was a caregiver to all. Her loving heart and concern for family and friends cannot be measured. She helped so many through difficult times in their lives. She loved many and they loved her. She worked endlessly taking care of her family and providing for their needs. Her greatest love is her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cares deeply for each one of them. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.
Survived by children, Norman, Kevin, Linda, and Darlene; 16 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
