James H. Allison, 67, Fairmount, died at 5:10 p.m. Thurs., June 28, in the Northside Health Care Center, Indianapolis. A Brevard, N.C. native, Mr. Allison had lived in Grant County for several years. During WW 2, he was sent to Detroit from Calif. as one of the country's leading aircraft men to convert the automobile plants to plane producing plants. He first came to Marion as plant manager of Crosley Motors where he set up the plant and turned out the first Crosley car, which was presented to Powel Crosley. His wife, Peggy, received the second Crosley car. Jim Allison was with the original seven astronauts as their supervisor in charge of their planes at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Tex. He retired in 1972 from the Dynalectron Aircraft Co. in Ft. Worth, Tex.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; daughter, Mrs. Dr. David (Patsy) Denny, Indianapolis; 2 sisters, Mrs. Norman (Virginia) Ramer, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. C.C. (Helen) Gibbs, Brevard, N.C.; 3 brothers, Perry and Francis, both of Brevard, and Eli, Sweetser; and 2 grandchildren.

Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Mon., June 2, in Hunt Funeral Home. Rev. Xen Harvey officiated and burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Lewisburg, Ohio. The family requested that memorials be in the form of donations to the Cancer Society.
