Brenda Bennett, 82, of Hillsboro, Texas passed away January 3, 2023. She was born March 4, 1940 in Hillsboro to Oliver and Markie (Roark) Jones.

She attended Hillsboro schools, graduating in 1958. While in high school, she dated and fell in love with Dean Paul Bennett who she married on July 11, 1959.

Brenda attended the University of Texas briefly and excelled in secretarial studies, ranking top of her class in shorthand and typing. She put that skill to good use one year later and was secretary at the Texas Department of Health in Austin, while her husband attended pharmacy school at U. T. in Austin.

When he graduated from pharmacy school, they moved back to Hillsboro where he became a pharmacist at H & R Drug Store and Brenda became a legal secretary. After becoming a mother, Brenda was a stay-at-home mom and took care of her two sons until 1975 when she started working with her husband at the drug store. She worked there until they sold the store in December 1987. They had bought a cattle farm in 1964, where they also resided.

Brenda loved and believed in God in Heaven and his Son, Jesus Christ. She believed strongly in prayers. She mostly prayed thank you prayers for all her many blessings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors include her two sons, Stephen and Scott, six grand children and six great-grand children.

Graveside services will be held January 5, 2023 at the Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro, Texas...M_M
