Staff Sgt. Samuel David Lecce, 32 of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, formerly of Jefferson County, Tennessee, passed away on December 19, 2022 while deployed in Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Raider Battalion, Marine Forces Special Operation Command and was serving as a part of a joint task force supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. He will be remembered as an amazing husband and father. He loved skydiving and was an excellent marksman. Survivors include his wife, Katelin Lecce; his daughter, Piper G. Lecce; his parents, David A. Ritz, Sr. and Nicola Marie Ritz; his grandmother, Donna McSurely; his half-brother, David A. Ritz, II; his half-sister, Debra Godwin; his step-sister, Davina Boatman and his step-brother, Benjamin Ritz. A funeral service is being planned for the Old Post Chapel on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, with burial to follow in Arlington National Cemetery. The date and time will be announced.
