David Ernest Gaiennie passed away suddenly on May 12, 2022 at his home in Pass Christian, Mississippi. He was 67 years old. Dave was born in New Orleans on November 1, 1954, the third of four children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Vera Abadie Gaiennie, his daughter, Stephanie, and his brother-in-law, Sergio Gutierrez. Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Marie Payton Gaiennie and his dear son, Michael. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Sue Gaiennie Gutierrez and two wonderful brothers and their wives, Steve (Darlene) and Danny (Judy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave was a devoted step-father to Ryan Lanza (Sarah) and Kristin Lanza Roudebush (Jonathan), as well as an awesome Paw Paw to Lyla and Emelene Lanza, and Jolie and Cruz Roudebush.

He was a 1972 graduate of De La Salle High School and spent the majority of his career with Avondale Shipyard. He retired from Huntington Ingalls as the Director of Design Engineering with 44 years of continuous service.

In his personal life, Dave lived with an abundance of faith, energy and optimism. He was known for his generosity, openness, and caring for others. He was the consummate giver and a great cook. Dave was also a lover of his longtime home city, New Orleans. He thoroughly enjoyed all it has to offer, being a devoted Saints and LSU Tigers fan, Jazz Fest attendee and frequent diner at local restaurants with friends and family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Orleans on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 10:00am. Visitation will begin at 9:00am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1802 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70112.
