CHRISTENSEN LESLIE DEAN Leslie D. Christensen died on February 12 at his home in Livermore at the age of 81. Dean, as he was known to his many friedns, was born in Alunite, Utah, and was the eldest of three sons of Leslie C. and Sylvia Christensen. He grew up in Salt Lake City where he met and courted his wife of 60 years, Donna. In June of 1941 they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. That same month, he was commissioned as an officer in the Army Field Artillery and served in the Pacific theater during World War II. After the war he completed his engineering degree at the University of Utah and moved his new family to California where he worked as a chemical engineer. In 1955, he settled in Livermore to work at the "Radiation Laboratory," now known as the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, until his retirement in 1985. Dean and Donna served as ordinance workers at the Oakland LDS Temple for the past 25 years and served on missions at the Family History Centers in Oakland and Salt Lake City. He is survived by his wife and son, David of Vienna, VA, and two grandchildren, Michael and Daniel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, at 12:00 Noon at the LDS Church at 950 Mocho St. in Livermore. He will be interred at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City. The family requests that instead of flowers, a memorial donation to be made to the Oakland Family History Center, 4780 Lincoln Ave, Oakland, CA 94602.
