BETTY HICKERSON OBITUARY
Lee's Summit, Missouri - Betty Boutwell (Bryant) Hickerson, 93, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd. Kansas City, MO 64138. A visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials and contributions are suggested to St. Luke's Hospice House.
Betty was born on July 23, 1929 in Versailles, Missouri to Walter and Etta (Boutwell) Bryant. She attended Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. On November 17, 1945, she was united in marriage to Robert Hickerson. To this union, they had five children: Susan, Linda, Betty Kay, Bob, and Janet. She worked for over 20 years for the Department of Agriculture in Kansas City.
One of Betty's greatest joys was her love of quilting. She was known as the "Master Quiltess"! She loved making quilts and donating them to the children at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. She also enjoyed her flower garden where she spent many hours of hard work.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; brothers, Pete Bryant and Erwin Bryant; and her grandson, Owen Blaine. She is survived by her children, Susan Hunnicutt and husband Steve, Linda Smith, Betty Kay Greving and husband John, Robert Hickerson Jr. and wife Gina Westergard, and Janet Hill; grandchildren, Lori Engel, Michael Larson, Kim Butler, Cyndi Bird, Heather Vitale, Robert Hill Jr., Sara Hill, Daniel Hill, and Martin Smith; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
