Paula Jean York, age 71, of Gholson, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 29, 2022 at her residence.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Paula was born October 18, 1951 in Waco, the daughter of the late Paul and Carrie (Moore) Simpson. She was a 1970 graduate of LaVega High School before attending McLennan Community College. On October 25, 1993 she was united in marriage to Lonnie York in Gholson. Lonnie preceded her in death on January 1, 2017. Paula was a member of First Baptist Church in Gholson. She worked for several area businesses including being a computer programmer for the Upshur County Appraisal District, a pharmacy tech at Hillcrest Hospital, Ozark Leather, Walmart, Gholson Grocery, and Milstead Supply Company. Paula enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, reading, and watching movies and television. She loved spending time with her family, especially the triplets.

Paula is also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Butcher.

Survivors include her children, Donna Walter and husband Dennis, Sherry Franklin and husband Dywayne, Melissa York, Stephen York and wife Stacey, and Matthew York and wife Sheona; grandchildren, Leslie, Katie, Emily, Garrett, Parker, and Ashlynn; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Aiden, Izzy, Emmett, and Addie; a brother, George Moore and wife Martha; sisters, Barbara Ehlers, Bobbie Ann Hooper, and Carolyn Farmer and husband Floyd; brother in law Jerry Butcher; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Dennis Walter, Dywayne Franklin, Garrett Pavlas, Parker Pavlas, Stephen York, and Andy Moore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gholson Volunteer Fire Department.
