Bob grew up in Park Ridge, NJ and enlisted in the USAF Army Air Corps in 1947 after graduating from high school. He was an Aviation Mechanic on B-29 serving in combat operations during the Korean War, continued his career as a flight engineer for C-130s and also worked at Kennedy Space Center for 26 years on the Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs where he was responsible for structural maintenance of Pads 39A and B and retired as manager of Support Operations on the Shuttle Launch Pad. Bob loved spending his retirement time enjoying the company of family and friends and volunteering for the city of Satellite Beach, SBPD Citizens on Patrol for 20 years. His hobbies included working out at PAFB gym, walking on the beach, fishing and photography and Formula One auto racing. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed walking his pet Chow dogs, Honey and Bo. Bob was best known for his bicycle repair and restoration business, "Bob's Bicycles" and was affectionately known in the community as "Bikeman Bob". Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Patricia M. Gregory; daughter, Lynn Ehleiter; grandson, Shane Ehleiter; sisters, Constance Maslik and Florence Downey, surviving are children, Janet (Tim) Beck, Sandy Gregory and Robert, Jr (Donna); 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur (Susan) North and son-in-law, Gerald Ehleiter.
