The first of five children, Wesley Terrell Trent was born on May 11th, 1945, at Lester, up in Hoo Hoo Hollow, the son of the late Edmund Terrell and Tavie Pearl Bolen Trent. "Wes" as he was affectionately known is the fond brother of Larry Trent(Peggy) of Dover, DE, Nancy Fox and Sherri Meadows (Roy) all of Sophia and Gerald Trent (Betty) of Lester; a large extended family of nieces and nephews survive.
A lifelong resident of Lester, Wes was a graduate of Trap Hill High School, class of 1963. A veteran of the US Army he served in Germany. Working in the mining industry for over 20 years, he retired from Eastern Coal. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish his memories is his devoted companion, Debra Horton; his beloved children, Shonette Cole (Michael) of Fairdale, Rodney Edmund Trent of Hinton, Amy Birchfield (Jeff) of Beckley and Wesley Weldon "W" Trent of Fairdale; the mother of this children, Loudema Covey Wills; Debra's son, Kenneth "KC" Horton of Sevierville, TN; he was the proud "Paw Paw" of Patience, Noah, Zachary, Nikolas, Isaac, Elliana, Skylar and Hunter; great grandfather of Serenity, Sylus, and Salem; and his life-long friend, Larry "Buck" Bowling.
This Sunday, January 3rd, at 2:00 pm there will be a "Service of Remembrance" in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Dale Birchfield will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at 12 noon. There will be a private burial on Monday at the Sunset Memorial Park.
