She was born on August 26, 1924, to Joe T. and Aggie Gawlik and raised on their farm in Cestohowa, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe T. and Aggie Gawlik; her loving husband, Frank Lyssy; half-sisters, Sally (Gabrysch) Notzon, Irene Gabrysch; half-brother, Vincent Gabrysch; sisters, Mary (Gawlik) Yuras, Eleanor (Gawlik) Moczygemba; and brother, Chester Gawlik.
Theresa married her true love, Frank Lyssy, on June 18, 1946. Theresa joined Frank in expanding their farm and ranch in Kosciusko. They built a small home, continued to farm and never looked back. Farming and ranching were in their blood, and they never considered doing anything else. She was a true country lady who enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, quilting, and raising her two children. When required, Theresa also did her fair share of heavy lifting on the farm. She was always ready to hop on a tractor or grain truck during harvest season. She believed in a loving home where faith was always present. Theresa was a woman of faith and a lifelong member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Kosciusko, Texas where she was active in the Alter Rosary Society.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in Kosciusko, Texas.
A rosary will begin there at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. also held in the church.
Interment will take place at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery.
