Tommie Jean was born on September 28, 1928 in Laurel, Mississippi. She graduated from Jones County Junior College, then went on to become a registered nurse, practicing in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Georgia.
She was an avid sports fan, especially Mississippi State University and the Atlanta Braves. She and her husband would motorhome across the country following the Mississippi State football and basketball teams. She loved to travel and was an avid gardener. Tommie Jean was a member of Moselle Memorial Baptist Church.
Tommie Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Fairchild; son, Michael G. Fairchild; grandson, Maxwell Williams; brothers, Arnold Flowers (Frances) and Edgar Flowers (Bobbie); sisters, Audie Todd (Benny), Kaye Lattin (George), and Faye Hendry.
She is survived by her daughter, Belinda (Eric) Williams; son Stephen (April) Fairchild; sister, Bobbie Nichole Scoggins; sister-in-law, Molly Fairchild (Dave) Boardman; grandchildren, Katie Bond, Michael Lockaby, Christopher Fairchild, Joseph Williams, Patrick Fairchild, and Sarah Johnson; great grandchildren, Avery Lockaby, Gabe Danner, Henley Fairchild, Tucker Fairchild, Ruby Bond, and Gavin Fairchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
